DIGGING IN follows students from Toronto's Jesse Ketchum School as they take steps towards the greening of their schoolyard. Along the way they get 'how-to' advice and inspiration from kids across Canada; from Pauline Public School, where students raised $10,000; from Broadacres School, where a family of wild ducks found a home in their pond; and from Queen Mary School, where the student tip is to 'get help from your parents and teachers to make your garden happen!'

And this is our courtyard. And as you
can see, here are some baby ducklings

the mother. The ducks are wild

and then put them in. They just came by their selves.

The whole project,

took about five to six years

to actually finish. And then

We had to do 100 projects
from the Seeds Program.

And when we were done, we got a trophy,

an environmental trophy
from the Seeds Program.

But now, because we have grown the garden

school almost has the same roof,

to a rooftop garden, instead of a roof.

on a hot day or something, if there\'s like benches

and places to work and stuff,
you can maybe like, work,

work on that like outside instead of being cramped
up in a hot room. My class sometimes does

because we were kids. But they did take it seriously
