The origin of Latin American music comes from different sources, including indigenous traditions, the African presence in the territory, and the Spanish conquistadores and their classical music influence.
Isaac and Nora start their journey in the Canary Islands and discover the link between their traditional music and the ocean. The Canary Islands and Latin America have also maintained a very strong bond musically and culturally. Among others, they visit and get inspired by musician Valeria Castro and learn popular songs of the area such as “Palmero sube a la palma”.
Isaac and Nora then travel to Mexico and explore music genres such as boleros. They visit the CDMX, a cultural district in the heart of Mexico City, where one can find Frida Kahlo’s blue house, and Malinche’s house, as well as the fascinating Coyoacán market. Their trip culminates with a visits and collaboration with “Daniel Me Estás Matando”.
Series Description
The Franco-Korean siblings Isaac and Nora, 14 and 11 years old, are a global viral phenomenon: they have conquered the public with their sweet versions that redefine and update some of the most iconic Latin American songs. What started as a domestic game and an educational method taught by their parents has become a worldwide success. Today, their videos accumulate tens of millions of views and there are millions of followers who praise their talent from different countries such as Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Chile, and Spain.
Isaac and Nora embark on their first international tour. A journey to the heart of Latin folklore and rhythms. A tour in which they visit Mexico, Colombia, Peru, and Chile to finish in Madrid, and where they share the stage with renowned musicians from each country such as Monsieur Perine, Daniel Me Estas Matando, and Rozalen. A vital musical journey for Isaac and Nora, who get to feel, see, touch, and experience everything that they had sung until now.
“Meet Isaac and Nora, two French kids who are big in Latin American music.” – Betto Arcos, NPR
“Isaac and Nora together with their father Nicolás, have become a global viral phenomenon from their living room at their home in Quimper, France, and have conquered the public with their sweet updated versions of some of Latin America’s most beloved iconic songs.” – Byron Gonzalez, Latin Alt
"The Latin American repertoire rescued by Isaac & Nora includes classic authors who are not often explored by younger generations (especially in Europe, of course) like Violeta Parra, Julio Jaramillo, Luis Demetrio, María Teresa, and Agustín Lara." - Sebastián Ramos, The Rolling Stones/La Nacion
"Isaac and Nora, aged 13 and 11, have become a sensation thanks to the videos they have posted with their father on YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook, which have garnered several million views. It is their wonderful childlike voices, singing boleros and classic Latin American songs, that have captivated audiences around the world." - El Periodista
"It is said that music is the only universal language, and the Restoin family proves this with the success of their Spanish-language music coming from France. Isaac and Nora are the protagonists of this story." - Alejandro Puga, Expreso

00:00:16.840 --> 00:00:17.960
Ready?
00:00:18.040 --> 00:00:19.280
Let's do it.
00:01:10.120 --> 00:01:12.560
Not so long ago,
we were playing
00:01:12.640 --> 00:01:14.760
in our house in France.
00:01:15.320 --> 00:01:19.240
And now we're here,
on the other side of the world.
00:01:19.760 --> 00:01:23.560
So, thank you,
all we can do
00:01:23.640 --> 00:01:25.320
is give thanks for this life.
00:01:40.760 --> 00:01:44.280
What do you care if I love you?
00:01:45.920 --> 00:01:49.600
When you no longer love me
00:01:51.400 --> 00:01:55.200
The love has gone
00:01:55.280 --> 00:01:59.040
And cannot be recalled
00:01:59.520 --> 00:02:02.400
When we filmed "Twenty Years",
it was a bit of a guide...
00:02:03.200 --> 00:02:05.240
for us, for me...
00:02:05.320 --> 00:02:08.480
We'd only done one video
00:02:08.560 --> 00:02:10.440
on my mum's phone.
00:02:10.520 --> 00:02:13.400
Today I represent the past
00:02:13.480 --> 00:02:18.440
I cannot conform
00:02:22.000 --> 00:02:23.920
We were messing around playing things
00:02:24.000 --> 00:02:26.320
in our bedroom,
my brother and I.
00:02:26.400 --> 00:02:29.640
And my father called us to say,
00:02:29.720 --> 00:02:32.720
"It's sunny,
let's do a take."
00:02:32.800 --> 00:02:35.080
The love has gone
00:02:35.160 --> 00:02:38.600
It cannot be recalled
00:02:39.160 --> 00:02:41.600
We wanted to record those memories
00:02:41.680 --> 00:02:45.080
because it was so fun
00:02:45.160 --> 00:02:49.360
to watch them singing and playing.
00:02:58.760 --> 00:03:03.240
This is where
we recorded "Twenty Years".
00:03:13.040 --> 00:03:15.640
I was dressed pretty normally.
00:03:15.720 --> 00:03:17.640
My trousers were dirty and everything.
00:03:18.800 --> 00:03:20.520
It was just a test run.
00:03:20.760 --> 00:03:23.880
Isaac wasn't even wearing shoes.
00:03:23.960 --> 00:03:28.040
A piece of one's soul
00:03:29.240 --> 00:03:33.400
Mercilessly snatched away
00:03:36.000 --> 00:03:37.360
Tata
00:03:37.440 --> 00:03:38.760
Tata
00:03:39.400 --> 00:03:44.080
We never expected the video
to reach millions of people.
00:03:45.600 --> 00:03:46.920
But it did.
00:03:47.640 --> 00:03:50.840
Our version received a lot of love.
00:03:55.480 --> 00:03:57.080
With the post of 20 years,
they started to suggest
00:03:57.160 --> 00:03:59.040
collaborations, phone calls...
00:04:00.560 --> 00:04:03.840
It was something huge
and we weren't ready for that.
00:04:07.040 --> 00:04:10.040
The most surprising thing
was what a huge success it was.
00:04:12.200 --> 00:04:15.000
It got millions of views every day.
00:04:16.360 --> 00:04:20.440
And it encouraged us
to record new songs,
00:04:20.520 --> 00:04:22.120
others that we liked.
00:04:29.840 --> 00:04:32.560
I know that the oak tree...
00:04:33.080 --> 00:04:37.120
From that day on,
we've been very grateful
00:04:37.200 --> 00:04:40.320
to everyone
who made this life possible.
00:04:41.280 --> 00:04:44.000
We've done so many things, TV,
00:04:44.080 --> 00:04:47.200
interviews, we'd not done
any of that before.
00:04:49.840 --> 00:04:52.280
We've been new places
and met incredible people.
00:04:52.360 --> 00:04:55.560
We've even made a record.
00:05:02.880 --> 00:05:06.600
Latin American music
has stolen our hearts.
00:05:06.960 --> 00:05:11.160
Its sweetness, rhythms,
its blends.
00:05:11.240 --> 00:05:14.920
But up until now,
all we knew was the songs.
00:05:16.000 --> 00:05:19.040
But that's about to change.
00:05:19.880 --> 00:05:23.280
We're going to fulfill
one of our lifelong dreams.
00:05:23.840 --> 00:05:26.080
We're going to Latin America.
00:05:28.440 --> 00:05:30.600
We're performing in Mexico.
00:05:31.840 --> 00:05:33.080
Colombia.
00:05:33.480 --> 00:05:34.760
Peru.
00:05:35.200 --> 00:05:37.680
And Chile.
And finishing in Madrid.
00:05:40.720 --> 00:05:44.200
On this trip,
we'll discover the culture,
00:05:44.920 --> 00:05:48.840
the people and the landscapes behind
00:05:48.920 --> 00:05:53.040
the musical classics
we've played so often.
00:05:54.920 --> 00:05:57.880
We've also been asked
to make a new record
00:05:59.240 --> 00:06:02.280
and to take part in
some very special collaborations,
00:06:02.840 --> 00:06:04.760
the best voices from each country.
00:06:10.880 --> 00:06:13.200
When my father
00:06:13.920 --> 00:06:17.240
told us we were going on a trip
00:06:17.320 --> 00:06:19.840
and that we were going
to visit Latin America,
00:06:20.000 --> 00:06:24.040
I was so happy
and so was my brother.
00:06:25.640 --> 00:06:29.440
Travelling to Latin America,
travelling to Spain,
00:06:29.520 --> 00:06:33.000
doing concerts with musicians
we don't even know,
00:06:33.080 --> 00:06:34.160
it's just incredible.
00:06:36.000 --> 00:06:39.160
Together, as a family,
we're setting out on a trip
00:06:39.240 --> 00:06:42.520
to discover the roots
of Latin American music.
00:07:47.640 --> 00:07:51.360
We didn't know the importance
00:07:51.440 --> 00:07:53.360
of the Canary Islands
00:07:53.440 --> 00:07:57.760
as the link between Europe,
Africa and Latin America.
00:07:58.120 --> 00:07:59.800
Hey, how's it going?
00:07:59.880 --> 00:08:01.520
Hey.
00:08:03.080 --> 00:08:04.640
Hey, how are you?
00:08:04.720 --> 00:08:06.840
Nice to meet you.
How's it going?
00:08:08.280 --> 00:08:13.200
The Canary Islands were the bridge
between America, Africa and Europe.
00:08:13.640 --> 00:08:16.560
In fact,
a lot of American cities
00:08:16.640 --> 00:08:19.840
such as Montevideo, Sao Paulo
and San Antonio in Texas
00:08:19.920 --> 00:08:21.840
were founded by Canarians.
00:08:21.920 --> 00:08:25.000
And they would depart from
ports like this, like Garachico,
00:08:25.680 --> 00:08:30.440
where there was
the trafficking of people, goods
00:08:30.520 --> 00:08:32.720
and the culture and the songs, right?
00:08:32.800 --> 00:08:34.920
Many of the songs that you sing
00:08:35.000 --> 00:08:37.440
we also sing here in the Canary Islands
00:08:37.520 --> 00:08:40.000
because America
has a place in our hearts
00:08:40.080 --> 00:08:42.120
and those songs
travelled back and forth.
00:08:42.200 --> 00:08:45.080
So, I think this is the perfect place
00:08:45.160 --> 00:08:48.920
for you to depart for America from.
00:08:49.000 --> 00:08:52.520
Christopher Columbus is said
to have left from the port of Palos
00:08:52.600 --> 00:08:56.360
on his voyage to discover America.
00:08:56.440 --> 00:08:59.960
It's not true. The last port
Columbus stepped foot in was La Gomera,
00:09:00.040 --> 00:09:01.520
one of our islands.
00:09:01.640 --> 00:09:04.640
The Europe-America connection
was always via the Canary Islands.
00:09:04.720 --> 00:09:06.720
That was the last port he visited.
00:09:17.720 --> 00:09:20.880
You're going to see cities
that look quite similar to this one.
00:09:20.960 --> 00:09:23.840
That's because many of
America's colonial cities,
00:09:23.920 --> 00:09:26.240
the design
00:09:27.000 --> 00:09:29.120
and the way they were built,
was based
00:09:29.200 --> 00:09:30.920
on the Canary Islands.
00:09:31.440 --> 00:09:34.880
This is a bit like Cartagena,
00:09:34.960 --> 00:09:38.240
and if you go to Arequipa,
you'll notice it's a bit similar.
00:09:38.320 --> 00:09:40.360
The church reminds some people
of Mexico.
00:09:40.440 --> 00:09:42.640
It all has a Latin air about it.
00:09:44.600 --> 00:09:47.240
I'm going to show you my instrument.
00:09:47.320 --> 00:09:49.000
It's a timple.
00:09:49.080 --> 00:09:51.560
A small guitar with five strings.
00:09:52.800 --> 00:09:55.880
What does it remind you of?
Which instrument?
00:09:55.960 --> 00:09:57.760
A ukulele.
-The ukulele, right?
00:09:57.840 --> 00:09:59.560
That one's more international.
00:09:59.640 --> 00:10:01.600
It's the ukulele's cousin,
00:10:01.680 --> 00:10:04.160
from the charango,
the Venezuelan cuatro,
00:10:04.240 --> 00:10:06.480
and the Puerto Rican
or Colombian tiple.
00:10:07.720 --> 00:10:11.520
This is from Europe,
Baroque Europe.
00:10:11.600 --> 00:10:15.000
They named this little guitar the tiple,
meaning "high-pitched".
00:10:15.080 --> 00:10:18.480
And it spread across America.
00:10:18.560 --> 00:10:21.320
The timple is the sound
of the Canary Islands.
00:10:30.760 --> 00:10:33.200
We're Euro-Afroamerican.
00:10:33.280 --> 00:10:36.160
A combination of all this
has shaped a folklore
00:10:36.240 --> 00:10:39.400
that isn't very rich rhythmically,
but very rich melodically,
00:10:39.480 --> 00:10:42.240
and in terms of the genres
and influences
00:10:42.320 --> 00:10:46.360
from the three great cultural powers
surrounding us.
00:10:46.440 --> 00:10:48.160
Do you know what the jota is?
00:10:48.560 --> 00:10:51.280
Yes, it's...
00:10:51.360 --> 00:10:52.840
Okay.
00:10:53.080 --> 00:10:55.800
The variant of jota
that we have in the Canaries
00:10:55.880 --> 00:10:57.240
is "isa" and goes like this.
00:11:10.520 --> 00:11:12.880
So this guy from La Palma,
00:11:12.960 --> 00:11:15.960
the island La Palma,
"Lame" Soria they called him,
00:11:16.040 --> 00:11:19.440
emigrated to Peru
at the beginning of the 20th century
00:11:19.520 --> 00:11:21.520
and started a band,
he was a musician,
00:11:21.600 --> 00:11:24.120
and in the style of
the Peruvian marinera, he did
00:11:24.200 --> 00:11:26.960
that chorus I remember
singing as a child.
00:11:27.040 --> 00:11:29.840
And it became
"Palmero, Climb the Palm",
00:11:29.920 --> 00:11:33.520
played in the marinera key
and very famous in America.
00:11:38.880 --> 00:11:42.640
Palmero, climb the palm
And tell the Palmera...
00:11:42.720 --> 00:11:43.960
I'm a terrible singer.
00:11:59.760 --> 00:12:02.480
Palmero, climb the palm
00:12:02.560 --> 00:12:04.200
Catay, catay
00:12:06.360 --> 00:12:10.280
Tell the Palmera
Chupay, chumay
00:12:12.440 --> 00:12:16.400
Tell the Palmera
Chupay, chumay
00:12:18.440 --> 00:12:22.760
Come to the window
Catay, catay
00:12:22.840 --> 00:12:24.360
Lovely.
00:12:24.840 --> 00:12:28.760
My love seeks her
Chupay, chumay
00:12:30.760 --> 00:12:35.000
Climb the palm
Catay, catay
00:12:37.480 --> 00:12:39.040
I look at you
00:12:39.120 --> 00:12:42.960
So you understand
Catay, catay
00:12:43.600 --> 00:12:46.040
Because my eyes
00:12:46.120 --> 00:12:49.120
Speak for me
Chupay, chumay
00:12:50.120 --> 00:12:51.880
I look at you...
00:12:51.960 --> 00:12:56.960
Life wasn't always easy.
00:12:57.280 --> 00:12:59.480
We're a very normal family.
00:13:00.160 --> 00:13:03.000
With our own worries
00:13:03.080 --> 00:13:05.640
and troubles.
00:13:05.720 --> 00:13:08.800
Finding a job,
00:13:08.880 --> 00:13:12.160
having children,
00:13:12.400 --> 00:13:15.000
educating our children.
00:13:15.080 --> 00:13:18.480
Music changed our lives.
00:13:18.560 --> 00:13:20.160
What is that caled?
00:13:20.520 --> 00:13:22.520
I love that instrument.
00:13:24.080 --> 00:13:25.400
What is that called?
00:13:25.480 --> 00:13:26.480
I love it.
00:13:26.560 --> 00:13:27.720
Do you really love it?
00:13:27.800 --> 00:13:28.800
I do.
00:13:36.400 --> 00:13:40.560
This trip is a dream come true for me.
00:13:40.640 --> 00:13:42.080
It's a fairytale.
00:13:42.160 --> 00:13:46.240
I think the kids are really happy.
00:13:47.160 --> 00:13:48.320
And...
00:13:49.520 --> 00:13:51.200
It melts my heart.
00:13:54.200 --> 00:13:56.680
Hey!
How are you all?
00:13:56.760 --> 00:13:59.000
Gonzalo's our manager.
00:13:59.640 --> 00:14:02.120
He looks after us
00:14:02.200 --> 00:14:05.080
in every aspect of our lives.
00:14:05.160 --> 00:14:07.400
The adventure starts here, guys.
00:14:07.480 --> 00:14:08.800
I'm excited to get going.
00:14:08.880 --> 00:14:10.560
He's a bit like...
00:14:11.120 --> 00:14:14.240
Like a second mum to us all.
00:14:14.320 --> 00:14:17.200
Hey!
How're you all doing?
00:14:17.400 --> 00:14:19.520
How are you?
-Hi.
00:14:19.600 --> 00:14:21.120
Nice to meet you,
how are you?
00:14:21.200 --> 00:14:23.760
Hi, Isaac, how're you?
-Great.
00:14:23.840 --> 00:14:25.440
How're you?
00:14:28.440 --> 00:14:30.280
How was your trip?
00:14:30.360 --> 00:14:31.400
Good.
00:14:31.480 --> 00:14:32.680
I'm Valeria Castro.
00:14:32.760 --> 00:14:35.320
I'm a singer
from La Palma island.
00:14:35.400 --> 00:14:36.760
I'm 23 years old.
00:14:36.840 --> 00:14:39.120
I'm doing a project
00:14:39.200 --> 00:14:43.400
which mixes folklore music
with a bit of pop.
00:14:44.720 --> 00:14:49.480
Go to the window
Before the glass breaks
00:14:50.200 --> 00:14:54.760
Better to go up in flames
Than to remain silent
00:14:55.960 --> 00:14:58.840
Because you're not living life
When you spend it
00:14:59.240 --> 00:15:01.760
fleeing another
00:15:01.840 --> 00:15:05.200
I'm very excited today
because we're recording
00:15:05.280 --> 00:15:08.040
a classic Canarian song,
"Palmero, Climb the Palm".
00:15:08.120 --> 00:15:11.840
Not the La Palma version,
although there is a nod to it,
00:15:11.920 --> 00:15:13.480
it's more like the Peruvian one.
00:15:13.560 --> 00:15:16.520
How's our virtual producer?
00:15:16.680 --> 00:15:17.840
Hi.
00:15:17.920 --> 00:15:19.120
Hello!
00:15:19.200 --> 00:15:20.880
I'm here, having breakfast.
00:15:20.960 --> 00:15:22.720
What time is it in Argentina?
00:15:22.800 --> 00:15:24.520
Twenty past eight.
00:15:24.600 --> 00:15:28.240
Sebastián Schon
is an Argentinian producer.
00:15:29.560 --> 00:15:33.520
He's won lots of music awards,
00:15:33.600 --> 00:15:36.720
Latin Grammys and everything.
00:15:36.800 --> 00:15:40.080
And he's producing all the songs
00:15:40.160 --> 00:15:42.880
we're going to record on the trip.
00:15:42.960 --> 00:15:47.240
I think Valeria and the kids'
version will come out well.
00:15:51.560 --> 00:15:55.800
Palmero, climb the palm
Catay, catay
00:15:57.880 --> 00:16:01.760
Or tell the Palmera
Chupay, chumay
00:16:03.440 --> 00:16:05.600
Or tell the Palme...
00:16:06.120 --> 00:16:09.640
No, it's "Palmero
and tell the Palmera".
00:16:09.720 --> 00:16:12.160
Ah, it's "or", okay.
00:16:12.240 --> 00:16:15.520
No, "and", not "or".
00:16:15.880 --> 00:16:18.480
Ah, okay.
00:16:23.760 --> 00:16:27.880
Palmero, climb the palm
Catay, catay
00:16:30.080 --> 00:16:32.120
And tell the Palmera...
00:16:32.200 --> 00:16:34.840
Getting these French kids
00:16:34.920 --> 00:16:38.360
to sing something so indigenous,
something so close to home for me,
00:16:38.440 --> 00:16:41.320
gets me very emotional.
00:16:41.400 --> 00:16:43.480
Catay, catay
00:16:48.840 --> 00:16:52.680
Palmero, climb the palm
Catay, catay
00:16:55.040 --> 00:16:59.120
And tell the Palmera
Chupay, chumay
00:17:01.240 --> 00:17:04.160
And tell the Palmera...
00:17:04.480 --> 00:17:06.160
Again, again.
00:17:06.240 --> 00:17:09.960
Is it possible to have
a bit more volume on my voice?
00:17:10.040 --> 00:17:11.960
The volume...
00:17:12.040 --> 00:17:14.600
Maybe the volume.
00:17:14.680 --> 00:17:17.240
If you turn the volume up...
00:17:19.640 --> 00:17:22.160
One, two, one, two.
00:17:22.240 --> 00:17:23.240
Less loudly.
00:17:23.320 --> 00:17:24.320
Wait, wait.
00:17:24.960 --> 00:17:25.960
Two less.
00:17:26.040 --> 00:17:28.040
No, it's louder now.
00:17:28.120 --> 00:17:29.880
It makes some noise
like television.
00:17:35.080 --> 00:17:36.680
I hear it fine, it's fine.
00:17:37.320 --> 00:17:38.320
Wait, dad.
00:17:54.960 --> 00:17:59.240
Palmero, climb the palm
Catay, catay
00:18:01.600 --> 00:18:05.440
And tell the Palmera
Chupay, chumay
00:18:07.880 --> 00:18:11.520
And tell the Palmera
Chupay, chumay
00:18:13.800 --> 00:18:17.760
Come to the window
Catay, catay
00:18:19.960 --> 00:18:23.760
My love seeks her
Chupay, chumay
00:18:26.080 --> 00:18:29.200
Palmero, climb the palm
Catay, catay
00:18:32.400 --> 00:18:33.880
I look at you
00:18:33.960 --> 00:18:37.520
So you understand
Catay, catay
00:18:38.680 --> 00:18:40.640
Because my eyes
00:18:40.720 --> 00:18:43.760
Speak for me
Chupay, chumay
00:18:44.880 --> 00:18:46.800
I look at you
00:18:46.880 --> 00:18:50.000
So you understand
Catay, catay
00:18:51.080 --> 00:18:53.880
So you understand me, ma
So you don't cry...
00:18:54.560 --> 00:18:55.960
They are so amazing.
00:18:56.040 --> 00:18:59.680
They make such beautiful music
with their incredible voices
00:18:59.760 --> 00:19:03.120
and a musicality
that really characterises them.
00:19:03.200 --> 00:19:06.360
In the end,
that's what people are touched by.
00:19:07.040 --> 00:19:09.480
What does "Catay" mean?
00:19:09.560 --> 00:19:11.360
The big question.
00:19:11.440 --> 00:19:13.360
You don't know either?
-No.
00:19:13.440 --> 00:19:14.480
Oh my goodness.
00:19:15.360 --> 00:19:17.280
I look at you
00:19:17.360 --> 00:19:20.400
So you understand
Catay, catay
00:19:21.560 --> 00:19:23.880
So you understand me, ma
00:19:23.960 --> 00:19:26.800
So you don't cry
Catay, catay
00:19:28.000 --> 00:19:32.680
This sad heart will thaw
Chupay, chumay
00:19:33.800 --> 00:19:35.920
Lovely, so lovely, so lovely
00:19:36.000 --> 00:19:39.120
Kiss me
Catay, catay
00:19:41.520 --> 00:19:45.240
Palmero, climb the palm
00:19:45.640 --> 00:19:49.600
And tell the Palmera
00:19:49.960 --> 00:19:51.240
Perfect.
00:19:51.600 --> 00:19:54.160
What a great job you did.
00:19:54.240 --> 00:19:56.760
I was there playing.
-Right.
00:19:58.960 --> 00:20:00.400
Bye!
00:20:00.760 --> 00:20:02.600
Sebas, what a pleasure.
00:20:02.680 --> 00:20:04.440
See you in Mexico.
00:20:04.920 --> 00:20:06.440
I'm going to say goodbye.
00:20:06.520 --> 00:20:08.600
I'm leaving at seven in the morning.
00:20:08.680 --> 00:20:10.840
Good luck,
I hope it goes really well.
00:20:10.920 --> 00:20:12.120
Tomorrow, too.
00:20:12.200 --> 00:20:15.400
Thanks for trusting in me,
it's been a pleasure.
00:20:15.480 --> 00:20:19.320
Keep making music
exactly the way you do.
00:20:24.440 --> 00:20:26.640
How to know
00:20:26.720 --> 00:20:29.800
When a star has fallen
00:20:30.320 --> 00:20:35.240
If there are clouds in the grey sky
00:20:35.960 --> 00:20:40.480
How to know where we are
00:20:41.720 --> 00:20:46.640
If everything is spinning
00:20:48.200 --> 00:20:52.560
Life goes on and on
00:20:53.760 --> 00:20:55.840
I think the trip
Isaac and Nora are doing
00:20:55.920 --> 00:20:57.800
has two sides to it.
00:20:57.880 --> 00:20:59.840
On the one hand, the public,
00:20:59.920 --> 00:21:02.640
who probably follow them
on social media
00:21:02.720 --> 00:21:05.520
and will be even more moved
to have them so close.
00:21:05.600 --> 00:21:09.440
And the on other,
it being this huge, vital experience.
00:21:09.520 --> 00:21:13.000
Two kids who, suddenly,
unexpectedly, and without asking
00:21:13.080 --> 00:21:15.880
or trying for it,
find themselves on stage,
00:21:15.960 --> 00:21:19.160
doing an international tour
in various theatres across America.
00:21:19.240 --> 00:21:22.440
I'm sure it'll be
a great experience for them.
00:21:22.520 --> 00:21:24.720
Shooting star, still here
00:21:24.800 --> 00:21:27.120
Fulfilling the wish
I once asked for
00:21:27.200 --> 00:21:31.840
Nothing else matters
When you're shining in the sky
00:21:31.920 --> 00:21:34.960
Waking close to you
00:21:35.040 --> 00:21:38.400
This golden dream
00:21:39.400 --> 00:21:43.960
You bring me
00:22:16.680 --> 00:22:18.240
No way!
00:22:18.320 --> 00:22:21.360
It's Isaac and Nora with Mum and Dad.
00:22:21.440 --> 00:22:22.800
God bless.
00:22:22.880 --> 00:22:25.680
Welcome to Mexico.
00:22:26.240 --> 00:22:29.920
Meeting Isaac and Nora
makes me very happy.
00:22:30.000 --> 00:22:32.120
They're in Mexico for the first time.
00:22:32.200 --> 00:22:35.760
So I feel an enormous responsibility
00:22:35.840 --> 00:22:38.040
to give them a proper welcome.
00:22:44.000 --> 00:22:45.400
Welcome to the city.
00:22:45.480 --> 00:22:48.200
We're coming into Garibaldi now,
00:22:48.280 --> 00:22:51.880
home of the mariachi culture.
00:22:57.800 --> 00:23:00.760
We're standing next to Juan Gabriel,
the "Divo de Juárez".
00:23:00.840 --> 00:23:02.800
The great composer,
it says it here.
00:23:03.120 --> 00:23:04.520
Juan Gabriel.
00:23:04.600 --> 00:23:07.600
My absolute idol,
I've even got a tattoo of him.
00:23:08.760 --> 00:23:10.240
He's one...
00:23:10.520 --> 00:23:15.040
He's one of the composers
that made the most songs.
00:23:15.120 --> 00:23:17.360
He recorded like 1500 songs.
00:23:21.000 --> 00:23:24.560
I reckon your statue will go here.
00:23:24.640 --> 00:23:26.320
No.
-Here, Isaac.
00:23:27.000 --> 00:23:28.480
And here, Nora.
00:23:28.560 --> 00:23:30.840
And you.
00:23:32.720 --> 00:23:36.280
Pedro Infante released
the first bolero ranchero.
00:23:36.560 --> 00:23:39.400
He was the first person
who dared to sing bolero
00:23:39.480 --> 00:23:41.080
in a mariachi style.
00:23:44.200 --> 00:23:46.880
To be honest,
you have to cry bolero songs,
00:23:46.960 --> 00:23:49.640
you have to really feel it
and you have to dance.
00:23:49.720 --> 00:23:54.440
Mexico has some very special
musical qualities.
00:23:54.840 --> 00:23:58.440
Because, in contrast
to other parts of Latin America,
00:23:58.960 --> 00:24:01.360
I feel like they dance more
in other places
00:24:01.440 --> 00:24:03.720
and the music has
a bit more rhythm to it.
00:24:03.800 --> 00:24:07.040
Here it's more about the drama.
00:24:08.680 --> 00:24:11.640
This is where the bohemians
would get together.
00:24:12.040 --> 00:24:15.760
They came here to drink, to sing.
00:24:16.560 --> 00:24:19.920
And formed the character we recognise
00:24:20.000 --> 00:24:22.200
as a kind of gaudy Mexican.
00:24:30.280 --> 00:24:32.440
This is where they play mariachi.
00:24:32.560 --> 00:24:36.680
In general, it's two violins,
the vihuela and guitarron,
00:24:37.080 --> 00:24:39.120
they dress beautifully, look.
00:24:39.840 --> 00:24:42.680
And what magnificent faces.
00:24:44.360 --> 00:24:46.320
This is Isaac and Nora.
00:24:46.400 --> 00:24:48.640
They're lovely.
00:24:48.720 --> 00:24:50.800
Their papa, their mama.
00:24:50.880 --> 00:24:53.200
They sing traditional songs.
00:24:53.280 --> 00:24:55.760
They sing bolero,
Latin American songs.
00:24:55.840 --> 00:24:58.520
Basically, they're here visiting
to see what it's like.
00:24:58.600 --> 00:25:00.760
We're here to show them
00:25:00.840 --> 00:25:03.360
what it sounds like
in this part of the world,
00:25:03.440 --> 00:25:06.320
the dramatic, romantic song.
00:25:06.400 --> 00:25:08.560
That's great.
Welcome.
00:25:08.640 --> 00:25:09.720
What do you play?
00:25:09.800 --> 00:25:12.680
He plays the guitar
and she sings beautifully.
00:25:12.760 --> 00:25:14.120
Ah!
00:25:14.600 --> 00:25:16.000
No less!
00:25:17.040 --> 00:25:18.720
You're at home.
00:25:20.760 --> 00:25:22.400
A beautiful love
00:25:23.760 --> 00:25:26.000
Sent from God
00:25:26.080 --> 00:25:30.600
Destined for me alone
00:25:32.120 --> 00:25:34.280
Beautiful gift
00:25:35.360 --> 00:25:37.760
Beautiful gift
00:25:38.760 --> 00:25:41.320
Sent from above
00:25:41.400 --> 00:25:45.840
That filled me
with joy and love
00:25:47.080 --> 00:25:49.320
A beautiful love
00:25:50.520 --> 00:25:53.080
A beautiful love
00:25:54.080 --> 00:25:56.760
I'm like a little boy
00:25:56.840 --> 00:26:01.040
With a new toy
Happy and content
00:26:02.280 --> 00:26:04.600
I can't help it
00:26:13.280 --> 00:26:15.400
Who's Alonso?
00:26:15.480 --> 00:26:17.080
They call him Loloncho.
00:26:17.160 --> 00:26:18.880
He plays double bass.
00:26:18.960 --> 00:26:22.480
He's not just playing with us
in Mexico,
00:26:22.560 --> 00:26:25.600
he'll be with us
for the whole tour.
00:26:25.680 --> 00:26:27.440
How are you?
-Good.
00:26:33.320 --> 00:26:35.680
Who could have told me?
00:26:36.040 --> 00:26:37.480
G seventh.
00:26:38.320 --> 00:26:40.680
C minor, G seventh.
00:26:41.560 --> 00:26:44.000
C minor, C seventh.
00:26:44.080 --> 00:26:45.480
F minor.
00:26:47.160 --> 00:26:48.720
B flat.
00:26:49.520 --> 00:26:51.760
E flat.
00:26:55.520 --> 00:26:58.880
From the moment
they entered my house to rehearse,
00:26:58.960 --> 00:27:03.080
Nicolás, and Isaac and Nora,
00:27:04.120 --> 00:27:07.760
it's like I've known them forever.
00:27:07.840 --> 00:27:09.320
It flowed very quickly.
00:27:23.440 --> 00:27:25.720
What would they have done to me?
00:27:26.320 --> 00:27:28.640
People tend to remember
00:27:28.880 --> 00:27:31.400
Nora, because she's the lead,
00:27:31.480 --> 00:27:33.920
she's the singer,
she's the youngest.
00:27:34.360 --> 00:27:38.400
Other people think of Isaac and Nora.
00:27:38.480 --> 00:27:42.240
They appreciate that Isaac's
an important part of the project.
00:27:42.320 --> 00:27:44.960
He's very talented.
00:27:45.040 --> 00:27:49.840
And there are people
who see Isaac, Nora and their dad.
00:27:51.000 --> 00:27:54.960
But not many people
consider their mother,
00:27:55.040 --> 00:27:57.400
which is understandable
as she doesn't play,
00:27:57.480 --> 00:28:02.000
she's always on the other side
of the camera.
00:28:02.080 --> 00:28:03.680
You don't see her.
00:28:03.760 --> 00:28:07.600
But the structure of our family,
00:28:09.320 --> 00:28:13.520
all the decisions we have to make,
00:28:13.600 --> 00:28:17.840
their mother is very important indeed.
00:28:28.400 --> 00:28:33.960
I started researching
the Latin music of each country.
00:28:34.040 --> 00:28:36.440
And discovered songs
for my portfolio.
00:28:36.520 --> 00:28:39.320
I love them so much
as soon as I heard them.
00:28:39.400 --> 00:28:41.160
They were songs I really liked.
00:28:42.200 --> 00:28:43.640
Then it's...
00:28:44.200 --> 00:28:48.720
Can you please learn this song?
I really like it.
00:28:50.520 --> 00:28:53.080
What have I done to you?
00:28:53.280 --> 00:28:57.680
I make the videos
at the other side of the camera.
00:29:00.960 --> 00:29:02.480
I am more shy.
00:29:02.560 --> 00:29:06.120
Being at the other side of the
camera is okay to me, I like it.
00:29:11.800 --> 00:29:14.000
Nicolás and I always think about
00:29:14.080 --> 00:29:16.360
what it's done and what it's not.
00:29:17.240 --> 00:29:19.480
I always think about
what is good for the kids
00:29:19.560 --> 00:29:21.000
and what it's not.
00:29:21.080 --> 00:29:26.720
Will be this good for them?
I think about all that.
00:29:45.680 --> 00:29:48.440
I'm at San Juan Market.
00:30:05.440 --> 00:30:07.280
Ah!
00:30:07.480 --> 00:30:09.000
I want to try it.
00:30:10.000 --> 00:30:10.960
Is it for real?
00:30:14.240 --> 00:30:15.320
A spider.
00:30:15.400 --> 00:30:17.840
Spider-Man, Spider-Man.
00:30:17.920 --> 00:30:19.360
A tiny monster.
00:30:19.440 --> 00:30:21.280
Imagine.
00:30:23.040 --> 00:30:25.360
They're edible flowers.
00:30:27.320 --> 00:30:30.600
Can I try one?
00:30:30.680 --> 00:30:31.680
Do you want to try it?
00:30:39.200 --> 00:30:40.520
Let's see your face.
00:30:51.040 --> 00:30:52.360
Look.
00:30:54.480 --> 00:30:56.640
Gross.
00:30:58.360 --> 00:31:00.080
A mezcal with...
00:31:00.800 --> 00:31:02.760
That'll be tricky to eat.
00:31:02.880 --> 00:31:04.800
We have scorpion.
00:31:05.240 --> 00:31:07.200
We've got whip scorpions.
00:31:07.280 --> 00:31:09.360
The Madagascar cockroach.
00:31:09.920 --> 00:31:12.040
We also have grasshoppers.
00:31:12.120 --> 00:31:13.520
Grasshopper.
00:31:13.600 --> 00:31:15.200
The mezcal worm.
00:31:16.280 --> 00:31:18.440
Chicatana ants.
00:31:21.200 --> 00:31:23.600
This is a bug
from the mesquite trees.
00:31:23.680 --> 00:31:25.560
And mosquitoes.
00:31:26.760 --> 00:31:28.000
I can try the worn.
00:31:32.480 --> 00:31:34.400
Wait, I'll got this on camera.
00:31:40.160 --> 00:31:41.680
It tastes good.
00:31:44.280 --> 00:31:46.200
Chips with cheese.
00:31:47.400 --> 00:31:49.520
I don't want, you try it.
00:31:55.480 --> 00:31:57.000
Come on, it's your turn now.
00:31:57.080 --> 00:31:59.760
Come on, Isaac, it's like a biscuit.
It's a biscuit.
00:31:59.840 --> 00:32:02.200
Yes, it's a biscuit,
but it was a worn before.
00:32:06.640 --> 00:32:08.080
It's realy weird.
00:32:11.520 --> 00:32:13.640
I like this one too, yes.
00:32:28.080 --> 00:32:32.040
I ate scorpion with edible gold.
00:32:32.120 --> 00:32:34.080
I ate some ants.
00:32:34.160 --> 00:32:36.520
She's scared of vegetables.
00:32:36.600 --> 00:32:38.120
But...
00:32:38.200 --> 00:32:40.560
All this is pure protein.
00:32:40.720 --> 00:32:43.400
Our ancestors ate these insects.
00:32:43.520 --> 00:32:45.120
Which is your favourite?
00:32:45.200 --> 00:32:47.920
The ants or...?
00:32:48.000 --> 00:32:50.440
I like this, it's really good.
00:32:51.400 --> 00:32:52.800
See you later.
00:32:52.880 --> 00:32:54.040
Bye.
00:32:54.240 --> 00:32:55.560
Nora.
00:32:55.640 --> 00:32:57.920
Ah, hello!
00:32:58.000 --> 00:32:59.600
Nora.
00:33:22.240 --> 00:33:24.240
Ready.
-How are you?
00:33:24.320 --> 00:33:25.720
Very well.
00:33:32.520 --> 00:33:34.400
Isaac's in his own world.
00:33:35.080 --> 00:33:37.760
In his world of concentration.
00:33:39.400 --> 00:33:40.920
Cowboy.
00:33:41.000 --> 00:33:43.000
He doesn't say much.
00:33:51.560 --> 00:33:53.920
I'm sweating.
00:33:55.400 --> 00:33:57.920
I think it's the nerves.
00:33:58.520 --> 00:34:02.000
We're playing in Latin America
for the first time.
00:34:02.080 --> 00:34:06.160
We're very excited
to experience this.
00:34:06.240 --> 00:34:09.720
It's been a long time coming.
00:34:09.800 --> 00:34:11.160
First show.
00:34:11.240 --> 00:34:13.960
We've done all we can.
00:34:15.120 --> 00:34:17.320
Got it?
00:34:17.400 --> 00:34:19.360
Yes, got it.
00:34:19.760 --> 00:34:21.360
What do you think?
00:34:21.440 --> 00:34:24.440
At the concert.
-and you, Nora?
00:34:25.280 --> 00:34:26.760
Tell me.
00:34:30.800 --> 00:34:34.360
It's great for you to think about love.
00:34:34.440 --> 00:34:37.400
We're only going to sing love songs.
00:34:38.840 --> 00:34:41.440
It's great preparation.
00:34:41.800 --> 00:34:44.440
Shut your mouth.
00:34:47.360 --> 00:34:49.520
Cut that.
00:34:49.840 --> 00:34:51.040
Please.
00:35:13.320 --> 00:35:15.920
They can put themselves there.
00:35:24.160 --> 00:35:25.840
And when you sing...
00:35:26.120 --> 00:35:27.520
Turn around.
00:35:34.880 --> 00:35:39.480
Could I get a coffee?
Or I'll collapse.
00:35:45.240 --> 00:35:46.600
Do you like the venue?
00:35:46.680 --> 00:35:49.400
Yes, but it feels small.
00:35:49.480 --> 00:35:51.320
Enough for five people.
00:35:53.160 --> 00:35:55.600
It's got 800 seats.
00:35:55.680 --> 00:35:58.520
There, there and there.
00:35:58.600 --> 00:36:00.680
And here, Nora.
00:36:01.520 --> 00:36:04.240
Twenty here, twenty there...
00:36:04.800 --> 00:36:06.840
I think it's really big.
00:36:06.920 --> 00:36:09.880
I think my dad does too...
00:36:11.360 --> 00:36:14.960
He sees thousands of seats.
00:36:18.520 --> 00:36:19.760
Incredible.
00:36:19.960 --> 00:36:24.280
A bit of a change
from our little house in France.
00:36:46.480 --> 00:36:47.760
Isaac and Nora.
00:36:47.840 --> 00:36:51.320
Let's go to the dressing room
around 20 minutes early
00:36:51.400 --> 00:36:54.560
and focus on the concert a bit.
00:36:54.640 --> 00:36:57.680
To think about what we're going to say.
00:36:58.040 --> 00:37:01.920
A sailor went to sea, sea, sea
00:37:02.000 --> 00:37:05.400
To see what he could see, see, see
00:37:05.480 --> 00:37:07.760
A sailor went to sea, sea, sea
00:37:07.840 --> 00:37:10.120
To see what he could see, see, see
00:37:20.480 --> 00:37:24.480
I teach 54 children at a school.
00:37:24.560 --> 00:37:26.800
They're very poor.
00:37:26.880 --> 00:37:28.640
They come on foot.
00:37:28.720 --> 00:37:31.800
They walk 10 kilometres
to get to school.
00:37:31.880 --> 00:37:35.200
And those children
have sent you these gifts.
00:37:35.280 --> 00:37:36.880
This is for you.
00:37:36.960 --> 00:37:39.440
This is for you, open the box.
00:37:39.520 --> 00:37:41.080
Thank you.
-Open the box.
00:37:41.160 --> 00:37:45.640
Made by
the indigenous people of Hidalgo.
00:37:45.720 --> 00:37:48.120
People who don't even speak Spanish.
00:37:48.200 --> 00:37:51.960
Please, give our...
00:37:52.880 --> 00:37:56.240
Our thanks to those children.
00:37:56.320 --> 00:37:58.720
We really admire you.
00:37:58.800 --> 00:38:00.960
Thank you very much.
-Kisses for you.
00:38:01.040 --> 00:38:02.480
And for you too.
00:38:02.560 --> 00:38:04.880
All the best and congratulations.
00:38:21.120 --> 00:38:23.200
It makes me really emotional.
00:38:23.680 --> 00:38:26.080
I get tearful.
00:38:26.760 --> 00:38:28.560
I admire their dad.
00:38:28.880 --> 00:38:32.320
Because it's he who's made them.
00:38:32.400 --> 00:38:34.880
I follow them on YouTube.
00:38:34.960 --> 00:38:36.840
I know all their songs.
00:38:36.920 --> 00:38:39.520
And I play them on repeat.
00:38:39.720 --> 00:38:41.240
And...
00:38:41.800 --> 00:38:44.280
When I found out
they were coming to Mexico,
00:38:44.520 --> 00:38:47.640
at first I didn't have money
for a ticket.
00:38:48.000 --> 00:38:50.040
And when I managed to get one
00:38:50.120 --> 00:38:52.880
I had to come from really far away.
00:38:52.960 --> 00:38:55.200
But even with all that,
I couldn't miss it.
00:38:55.280 --> 00:38:58.560
And I spent the whole morning
00:38:58.640 --> 00:39:01.960
looking for somewhere to print it
because I bought it online.
00:39:02.280 --> 00:39:05.440
And it wasn't easy,
I was getting desperate.
00:39:05.600 --> 00:39:07.560
I went to four shopping centres
00:39:07.640 --> 00:39:09.280
and they couldn't print it.
00:39:09.360 --> 00:39:10.840
But I did it.
00:39:10.920 --> 00:39:13.520
So I'm here,
I haven't eaten.
00:39:13.600 --> 00:39:16.640
Seeing them will fill me up.
00:39:18.360 --> 00:39:20.040
We'll try and do some jokes,
00:39:20.120 --> 00:39:23.560
but it's not always necessary...
00:39:23.640 --> 00:39:25.680
I think it's more important
00:39:25.760 --> 00:39:29.680
when there's a full house.
00:39:30.800 --> 00:39:32.480
It's excitement.
00:39:32.560 --> 00:39:33.920
They're a gift.
00:39:34.000 --> 00:39:38.680
A way to show the world
that there's still hope.
00:39:39.080 --> 00:39:42.520
In the song "Lágrimas y lluvia"
there is a time
00:39:42.600 --> 00:39:45.400
when he sings that.
00:39:45.480 --> 00:39:47.120
I go...
00:39:49.120 --> 00:39:54.280
With the trumpet, but
I want to do this that is not bad.
00:39:54.960 --> 00:39:57.720
I don't really like changing things
at the last minute.
00:39:57.800 --> 00:39:59.920
I don't think it's necessary.
00:40:00.000 --> 00:40:02.800
I think you're very, very nervous.
00:40:02.880 --> 00:40:07.240
Just a bit.
-A bit, sorry for being nervous.
00:40:07.760 --> 00:40:11.200
It would be a bit weird if I wasn't.
00:40:28.240 --> 00:40:29.560
You're incredible.
00:40:31.600 --> 00:40:33.760
Break a leg.
00:40:33.840 --> 00:40:35.320
You'll be wonderful.
00:40:35.800 --> 00:40:37.800
You'll be incredible.
00:41:13.720 --> 00:41:14.880
Hello.
00:41:15.320 --> 00:41:16.600
Well...
00:41:26.520 --> 00:41:28.560
We're not masters.
00:41:28.640 --> 00:41:31.920
We're not musical geniuses.
00:41:32.160 --> 00:41:34.880
All we can offer
00:41:35.320 --> 00:41:39.160
is our love for this music.
00:41:39.240 --> 00:41:40.880
No more.
00:41:40.960 --> 00:41:43.000
Bravo!
00:41:48.880 --> 00:41:52.520
Obviously,
we're going to play "Twenty Years".
00:42:02.400 --> 00:42:04.080
What do you care...
00:42:04.680 --> 00:42:06.680
Excuse me, sorry.
00:42:17.880 --> 00:42:21.640
What do you care if I love you?
00:42:23.240 --> 00:42:26.880
When you no longer love me
00:42:28.600 --> 00:42:32.600
The love has gone
00:42:32.680 --> 00:42:36.760
And cannot be recalled
00:42:39.040 --> 00:42:42.720
I was the love of your life
00:42:43.400 --> 00:42:48.080
Long ago now
00:42:49.720 --> 00:42:53.640
I represent the past
00:42:53.880 --> 00:42:58.640
I cannot conform
00:43:22.640 --> 00:43:26.800
If the things one desires
00:43:27.560 --> 00:43:31.080
Were within reach
00:43:32.320 --> 00:43:36.040
You would love me as you did
00:43:36.600 --> 00:43:41.080
Twenty years ago
00:43:42.040 --> 00:43:45.120
With great sadness we look upon
00:43:45.800 --> 00:43:49.400
A love which goes away
00:43:50.640 --> 00:43:54.320
A piece of one's soul
00:43:54.400 --> 00:43:58.680
Mercilessly snatched away
00:43:59.880 --> 00:44:03.560
A piece of one's soul
00:44:03.960 --> 00:44:08.120
Mercilessly snatched away
00:44:12.840 --> 00:44:14.560
Thank you very much.
00:44:45.960 --> 00:44:49.160
Isaac and Nora,
thank you for coming to Mexico.
00:44:49.240 --> 00:44:50.760
We love you lots.
00:44:50.840 --> 00:44:53.720
And thank you
for loving our country,
00:44:53.800 --> 00:44:56.360
our music,
we wish you the best.
00:44:56.440 --> 00:44:58.080
You're wonderful.
00:45:03.520 --> 00:45:05.000
You really bring us together.
00:45:05.720 --> 00:45:07.880
And I want to thank you,
thank you so much
00:45:08.200 --> 00:45:11.480
and thank you for singing for us.
00:45:11.560 --> 00:45:15.600
Take my hand
Fly with me
00:45:15.720 --> 00:45:20.000
We'll look after the Moon
00:45:20.120 --> 00:45:22.200
All is calm
00:45:22.320 --> 00:45:25.160
It will never end
00:45:25.920 --> 00:45:29.160
And nothing will separate us
00:45:38.080 --> 00:45:40.280
Don't let it be
the last time you visit Mexico.
00:45:40.360 --> 00:45:42.000
We adore you.
