Descendants of the Sea, Ep. 05 - The Great Settlement

View on the Pragda STREAM site

Guanaqueros, located south of the city of Coquimbo, sits atop an ancient Chango settlement, whose vestiges can still be found among the town's houses. Here, a unique fishing method is practiced: from the hills, the fishermen spot schools of fish and alert the boats to surround them. In their youth, these same fishermen used to explore tombs and search for artifacts to sell to the local collector, who eventually established a museum in the town.

Series Description
A six-part documentary series that shows how the culture of the Chango people, considered extinct until a couple of years ago, is still deeply rooted among many artisanal fishermen who live in the coastal territory of northern Chile.
